The Catskill Country Store was opened in December of 2011 by Chuck Solberg. Chuck also operates a farm in Medusa, NY and a farm stand in East Durham, NY. A believer in the local food movement, Chuck and Carol opened the Catskill Country Store to provide the community with a place to get fresh, local, and delicious food right in the village.
During the growing season all of the produce will be sourced from Chuck's farm or other local farms. Obviously, in the winter months, produce will come from greenhouses or the southern states.
The store also offers a selection of gourmet foods like Wild Thymes' (of Medusa, NY) line of salad dressings and sauces, Elderberry Mary (of Berne, NY) jams and jellies, a variety of pastas and sauces, a line of pickles and pickled vegetables from Rick's Picks,
and a wide variety of Bob's Red Mill's grains and cereals.
We have several local NYS Certified home producers providing us with scrumptious baked goods, and we carry artisan bread from Bread Alone Bakery and Rockhill Bakery. Llyod Spear, a local master beekeeper provides us with a line of honey and beeswax candles, and we have plenty of maple syrup made the traditional way by a family in Preston Hollow.
We also carry local dairy products from Ronnybrook Farm in Ancramdale, NY, eggs from several local farms and
a variety of artisan cheeses.
